Small Business

What goes into this?

  • Website custom to collaborate with your networks. You have the graphics? No problem, send them over! The other thing is – usually when you register a website you have to pay a massive yearly charge for hosting etc. Not with this, it’s only £24 – a one off for two years with of hosting. This gets you a database as well with technical stuff like FTP logins. You choose the domain.
  • Social Networks – the following networks branded to look like your website. I’m also using the Velvet Grooves network as an example. Yours doesn’t have to be the same though. Oh, and you’ll have Google Analytics fitted where eligible on your website &amp networks.

Note I can also do banners and viral widgets for Myspace. I’ll also do my best to attach these to the other networks.

  • You could also have a Flickr account. Upload images from your computer or phone, and they’ll go straight onto your website plus networks.
  • You can also sell physical as well as digital product, via your website. Can also use an alternative of your choice.
  • There’s “Press Kits” via Sonic Bids. You can pass these to Radio/TV/Web Press. Yes these can be applied to small businesses to!
  • Also, UStream – the ability to stream your sales team on the Internet. Can be like your own branded, online cable TV channel. How exciting!
  • Vimeo or Youtube account – do you have sales videos? Stick them on Youtube or Vimeo and spread them virally!
  • Digg account – allow people to give your site a kind of “thumbs up”. Enough of these “diggs” and you’re on the main Digg site. A guaranteed traffic booster! Remember, traffic = more potential sales!
  • Reddit account – allow people to score your site whether it’s good or bad. This is like Digg, except it’s easier to get onto the front-page.
  • Delicious account – allow people to easily bookmark your site. This is like a viral bookmarking tool. Anyone with Delicious attached to their social accounts will have the bookmarks appear once they’ve been clicked.
  • Of course, you don’t have to have all this, it can be custom to what works best for you. Your own time/effort is important with how well you’re marketing yourself. We’ll take a look at what works.

Extras (as in non-necessities)

  • Ning Account – your own fully customisable social network.

How does this work? And what’re you actually selling here?

I’m selling a new strategy to get your business out into the world, without the need of a huge budget. With the recession, there’re staff cutbacks and other strategies being employed to cut costs to save businesses. Small businesses are feeling the crunch far more than most. So it’s essential that in this harsh economic climate, that you have a great online web-presence, with the ability to communicate your business, sell your product and grow your customer base – with as minimal effort as possible.

Take a look at Velvet Grooves. A small business grown out of one mans’ time, gradually expanding into something far bigger with decent use of Internet Marketing. It can be done. You just have to know how to do it. And that is what this concept intends to inform you. You’re provided with up-to-date tools of the trade, you just need the team to run it. If you have this – brilliant – you’re about 60% there. All you need after this is for your staff to know how to use it. Once that’s done, it’s up to you to propel it forward, but the sky is the limit. It doesn’t just stop here…

I can provide a tutorial document for over the phone help – there’ll be a charge for this though after the first tutorial. Plus you’ll have an extra helping hand with Google Analytics, as this can be extremely useful when planning some intelligent strategic marketing.

What about the Ning, Linked In and Plaxo? What are they for?

Ning is a Social Network generator. You can have one custom to your business, branding included. Can be used as an online customer service area maybe? Or to announce new products? It`s up to you.

LinkedIn is a business profile that allows you to network with other businesses. Can be used as a B2B tool if you like. Your details are also put on there, so you’re easily contactable.

Plaxo is an online contact manager account. It is a good way to keep your contact information online – like an address book.

Now I’m interested. How much work will I have to do?

I’ll do most of the coding for the website, and if you run into problems at any point, I’ll be available to fix it. Of course, if this isn’t strictly a problem of my own or you want a new feature, this will again be charged at an hourly rate.

Graphics work can be outsourced if need be. I can do bits, at a charge. But you may have someone on your team who can do that for you, which is fine.

So what’s your hourly rate?

This is negotiable. All depending on what you want and how in-depth the skills need to be.
