Label: Trunk Records
Album: Now We Are Ten
Release Date: Out now
Format: CD

Ten years on, Trunk Records owner 'Jonny Trunk' has gone and made this compilation for both old fans and new fans alike. I'd consider myself a new fan. Here we have a CD compilation of 22 tracks from his 10 year history (well, since 1995 idealisticallt). This is beautiful stuff of extreme rarity, so rare infact that it's whats made the label so high profile. Various great DJ's have sampled these records including David Holmes (and I'm surprise Amon Tobin hasn't?), and at several times these records have gone on to become extreme collectables. Most notably the Wickerman soundtrack - which was only issued first on Trunk. He spent 3 years tracking the people who made it to get their permission for release. And without this, we wouldn't have any new-folk around including Tunng, Devendra Banhart et al. Just goes to show how much of an influence that someone so dedicated can have....

So here we have Basil Kirchin (who influenced Eno - oh yes...), tracks from that Dawn Of The Dead soundtrack which wasn't released until Jonny sorted it (go Jonny!) tracks from The Tomorrow people, little tidbits of porn read by 40's film stars which were originally sent to Jonnys sister, and other tracks from people I've never heard of. There's also some personal notes in here (well some... there's loads) to accompany the release, detailing the rise of Trunk in its glory. Fascinating stuff, both interesting and humerous (Jonny's words on the cover art!) - and all this for around a fiver. Great stuff.
