Band: Tim Pare
Album: Trans-Siberian Express
Label: Mumbo Jumbo Records
Release Date: Out Now
Format: CD

New album from new to me 'Tim Pare' on Mumbo Jumbo records - it's an album of acoustic guitar, background wailing and storyline vocals. The sound of the album doesn't reach far from acoustic folk - and the lyrics don't have that much depth. But this is made better by his use of metaphors to enhance the meaning, which add rich texture to the lyrics.

The story goes: Tim Pare leaves his job and girlfriend in Sheffield an attempt to restore his life, teaching English in China. He boards the train and is left thinking about how shite his life has been - hence 'Exorcism'. It then goes that he's on that train - a year later and held almost captive by Russian soldiers with knives. In return for his healthy, future life - he must sing them songs on his guitar. And that is what this CD is - a collection of those songs.

The album is ideal for late teens/early 20 year olds - but I think the limited subject of the album, or limited emotion rather, unfortunately will leave out the more demanding potential fans who've heard all this before. But I think if he sticks to the right audiences - he has the capability of stretching his fanbase further...
