The Storm Society (a 4 piece of Scottish death-metal lookalikes) bring back the raw 80's sound found from Joy Division. Starting with the excellent 'Miles Away' - shifting melodic hooks shuddering together with ease, giving it an anthemic feel. Plus the vocalist sounds oh so close to Tom from Editors. Wow.... what a way to be thrown into a record when it sound like this! 'I Could've Been Anything' is like Editors fronted by Bowie. Interesting swap there! All purely because of the voice - whilst that bassline works wonders. 'Miles Away 2' is a more dreamy version of the title track, purely because that electronic howl in the background. Whilst we finish off with the 'full' version of I Could've Been Anything - just a minute longer but yet, just as satisfying... So in a world where we're presented with endless streams of Coldplay inspired bands, as well as Radiohead, Joy Division, Pink Floyd, Zeppelin etc etc - these're actually quite exciting! More like a new Editors - which isn't a bad thing in their case! Myspace: The Storm Society
