Band: Taxi Taxi! EP: Taxi Taxi Label: Rumracket Release Date: Out now Format: CD

There's something special about Rumracket - noticably their roster contains Efterklang (Rumracket IS Efterklang) plus the early Grizzly Bear release - who've now gone to Warp. And for anyone who likes good music, will probably have loved (if not, will love) that album - plus they have the quality Amiina (personally related to one of the Efterklangers)... and more! So, expectations have been quite high on this new release from *new signing* Taxi Taxi!

Apparently, lots of people are going mad about them, loving their record - touched by them playing live... and when I listened to this EP - it all made sense. This is gentle piano led tracks with incredibly soft vocals from the twin pair (Miriam and Johanna from Stockholm, Sweden) who knock out tracks so simple, yet so honest and beautiful at the same time.

We're given traditional pop-folk songs throughout the ep - xylophones, pianos, acoustic guitars, - all working together in such a simple fashion, yet their power is somehow highly powerful in the 'gawd this is beeeeautiful!' sense.... and lyrically it's all very childlike - which adds a bit of character to the EP with them being twins n'all....

A great debut from a promising band...
