hungry

Artist: The Hungry I
Single: Birthday
Label: ATF Products
Release Date: Out Now
Format: CD

This single from 'The Hungry I' is another gem worth noting - declared post-rock by many - it's more trip-hop/ambient soundscapes to very mellow drum 'n bass beats. This places it quite well in the line for a decent chillout compilation. It's really soothing stuff. Initially it's a kinda ghostly mix - which has a sorta unexpected change sounding something like the Fight Club soundtrack remixed by Radiohead. Ghostly vocals to trip-hop patterns with laid back piano sketches - this is cool stuff.

B-side 'Jaws Of Love' sounds like a more serious affair - initially a powerful organ belches in to be confronted by swishing synth sounds. Blending in the synths, vocals and beats and guitars- it emerges into a more active drum 'n bass track displaying some good talent changing between the styles - all done by the man himself. Included on the CD is also a nice remix by Fat Benjamin entitled 'the idiot'. Sweet.

'The Hungry I' aka multi-instrumentalist Jon Stolber has toured with 65 Days of Static and The Guillemots - and will shortly possibly be supporting 'Talk'.
