Mum - Peel Session

Mums Peel session is at last release - and how 'fantastico!' it is as well!

songsfrombefore

Max Richter - Songs From Before

Max Richter follows up from his previous masterpiece, 'Blue Notebooks' , with the new album 'Songs From Before'. From initial listen it felt like a let down due to the song structures being less busy than from previous, but the more you listen, the more the subtleties stand out and the more beautiful the album becomes...

bpb

Bonny Prince Billy - The Letting Go

Fantastic is the least I can say... which also goes for the album... highly recommended!

clayhill

Clayhill - Mine At Last

... if you're a fan of Calexico, Springsteen, Bob Dylan and the new-folk genre, grab a copy of this. One of those special albums of this year.

Clinic - Visitations

So it sounds that Clinic have gone back to the style of Internal Wrangler, although I don't think this album really betters it. Instead it feels more recycled than showing progression. Still good though, just not I was hoping for.

Danielson - Ships

If like me, this is your introductary album from Danielson - you won't be dissapointed at all. Filled with prog-rock, old-folk, jazz, gospel singing etc - I think it's time I checked the rest of his stuff. Fantasic!

Ensemble - Ensemble

It's a fantastic album, very full and deep. Very much recommended!

Rod Stern - Give It Up For Rod Stern

"My name is Rod Stern..... and I am the living sickness...."

James Yorkston - The Year Of The Leopard

The album as a whole is bound to strike new fans with its release on the more widely known Domino - and I see this as an instant congratulation, as this is music which should be listened to and loved.

Manatee - Untitled

Pioneering post-rock label 'Motive Sounds' once again present us with a CD of high quality music. This time by a band called 'Manatee' which sounds quite epic in its own right.

Man Music - Helping Hand

The duo work well to create a blissful album of discordant piano chords, toys, xylophones, violins, bleeps and percussion. It's all brilliantly done, with loads of strong emotions flowing throughout. It would fit that unmade haunted house film really well.

Akron Family - Meek Warrior

Lovely new album from the Akron Family collaborating with Michael Gira.

Milky Ways - Milky Ways

MJ Hibbett & The Validators - We Validate!

Humerous and intelligent songs from the new Brummy band.

Our Brother The Native - Tooth & Claw

Debut album from the new Fatcat signings. Amazing stuff.

SSM - SSM

New album from SSM, full of space rockadoodle do. Yaaaaaah!

TK Webb - Phantom Parade

New album from TK Webb on The Social Registry.

Tom Brosseau - Empty Houses Are Lonely

Songs of acoustic emotion from singer/songwriter Tom Brosseau.

The Workhouse - Flyover

A good progression for The Workhouse, with an album for those of us that really want to be challenged. Awesome!
